New Way To Subscribe To MTN 4G Data Plan On Smartphones With *444#

Currently MTN NG is test running its 4G LTE network and we will show you how how to subscribe to an MTN 4G LTE data plan of your choice in this post.

MTN 4G LTE was gotten through VisaFone after the South African telecommunication company acquired VisaFone hence, the change in method of data subscription.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

You Must Have A Visafone Line
Unfortunately, the 4G network is not yet available to regular MTN SIM cards (at the time of this publication) so to enjoy the network, you required to get a Visafone line which has been migrated to MTN in order to enjoy the 4G LTE network.

A 4G Enabled Smartphone
This one is obvious as having a 4G compatible smartphone is one of the pre-requisite for getting 4G signal on your device. So you need a compactible smartphone for that.

4G Signal Coverage In Your Area
Another important thing to look out for is the availability of the signal in your location. You wouldn't want to subscribe to a data plan you won't be able to use. So before activating, make sure the signal bar is okay on your device.

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO MTN VISAFONE 4G DATA PLAN

1. Make sure you have at least N500 on your Visafone-MTN line

2. Dial *444# to see all the Visafone data menu. You can check comprehensive list of all 4G Data Plans and Price Here

3. Now, at the data menu choose 3

4. Then select the data plan of your choice, and complete the process. Your chosen plan will be activated.

HOW TO SOLVE DATA RENEWAL ISSUES ON MTN 4G PLAN

Most times after the first subscription, you might be getting issues to subscribe to a data plan again with this issue of "data plan activation failure error". It's a major problem but with simple fix. Even most of MTN customer representatives are not aware of the solution for this problem.

Anyway, here is a fix for it; if you have an active data plan (even if you have exhausted the data allocation), you have to opt out of (de-activate) it first. To opt out, dial *444# and select 3, then select 8 and finally select De-activate.

The trick is once you deactivate the current plan, even if you have exhausted the available data, you will be able to renew or subscribe again.
