  5. Each time i search in Google Playstore for this app from my phone, it won't be displayed among the listed apps.

.. Though the app will constantly be updating itself whenever there is an update.

  8. Not surprising at all as the app is an integral part of the Android functionality system.

  9. to my own opinion I feel like our phone can't live without google play service. Otherwise it's probably a brick with just call and text functionality.

  11. "Google Play services is used to update google apps and apps from Google Play. This component provides core functionality like authentication to your Google services, synchronized contacts, access to all the latest user privacy settings, and higher quality, lower-powered location based services. Google Play services also enhances your app experience. It speeds up offline searches, provides more immersive maps, and improves gaming experiences.Apps may not work if you uninstall Google Play services."

  12. one most important about Google play service is that google play services will check for any update hitting google play store server for the apps installed in the system or google play store server pushes the notification on updates related to the apps installed??

  13. But there is one probably more important purpose of Google Play Services, and that is locking down Android by Google. Just like many other essential parts of Google's version of Android, Google is making them exclusive to it's version of Android which makes open-source title more a fairy tale than reality. But Google Play Services go one step beyond just shipping exclusive appsand app store. As it makes important APIsavailable only on Google's Android, it makes much harder to port apps from Google's Android to non-Google's Android.I must say thatthis is a good business logic, and I don't mind it. Just I do mind that people are tricked into that they are using open source and Google Play Services is released for their own benefit.

  14. People have done it in the past especially to test how much better the battery life would be without all the Google services and from what I recall the differences were negligible. Which is something I found very surprising but that was a test I read from forever ago.

  16. Google Play Services also exposes a whole host of APIs like Maps etc that apps can use. Basically if you uninstall/remove Google Play Services from your phone, many apps would stop working and your phone would be quite useless. It's possible of course to have a phone without play Services, but you'd find it a very different experience.

  17. I want to think that it's a major achievement, but on the other hand I can't help but remember it comes installed on every Android phone with Google services. I'm torn. However,it is an indicator of just how widespread the Android OS has become, and how much of the world Google has dominance over. However good or bad that may be. Either way it's quiteimpressive. 5 billion people is 3/4 of the world's population.
