So Sad: WeChat Leaves Nigeria. What Happened?

WeChat, which was initially released in the year 2011 is a mobile text and voice messaging communication service that is developed by Chinese firm, Tencent. Over the years, it has labeled itself as one of the top messaging apps in the world. In Africa, it is been managed by Naspers as it is one of the investors in Tencent.

Meanwhile, WeChat app is not leaving Nigeria but their physical office. So all the people that are registered on the platform will continue using it as before.

According to Innovation village WeChat is closing down its offices in Nigeria and reportedly moving to South Africa.

It is understood that WeChat Nigeria office has been on record in aggressive publicity and PR for some months. Although, collaborations with Nigerian startups is part of their activities in the country.
