See Why Skype Is Dropping Support For Older Android And Windows Mobile OS

Skype is one of the most popular social platform known mainly for its video call 📞 features and the app has seen tremendous improvements in recent years which now results to its inability to work on older android and Windows Mobile operating system.

Older windows phone will no longer support the newly updated Skype application. This means you can only use it if you are on Windows 10 mobile and above. So those on Windows 8 and 8.1 won't be able to use the app a starting from October 2016.

While those running Android 4.0.3 Jelly Bean and below won't be supported on the latest Skype 6.2. But you can run the older Skype 4 version on devices running Android 2.3 and above.

Similarly, the Skype 7.0 for Mac client will only function on macOS 10.9 (Mavericks) and above and older versions will have to use the web client after October 2016 to access Skype.
