Say Hello To MediaTek Helio X30 With These Specifications

Obi is no longer a boy. Gone are the days when people degrade smartphones powered by a MediaTek chip - referring them as inferior and substandard. In fact, people use to look down on any device from China but am always against that because they are really trying and performing better than most countries that look down on them. Remember China and Taiwan are like 5&6 😁

Well, the Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company MediaTek has announced its latest flagship chipset in the Helio X series, and it's called the Helio X30. One of the remarkable changes with this latest chipset is its miniature 10nm (nanometers) which is an improvement from its predecessor, the X20's, 20 nanometers.

MEDIATEK HELIO X30 FEATURES
According to reports from XDA, Helio X30 claimed 53% improved power savings and 43% better performance than the Helio X20. It supports LPDDR4 RAM up to 8GB and up to 28-megapixel dual ISPs.

The X30 features three island design, it has:
✔ 4 x Cortex-A73 @ 2.8GHz
✔ 4 x Cortex-A53 @ 2.2GHz
✔ 2 x Cortex-A53 @ 2.0GHz

From the report, the X30 can support as much as 8GB of RAM with its four LPDDR4X bays, 4K video recording and playback at 30fps with the PowerVR 7XTP-MT4 GPU (850MHz), and dual-cameras up to 28MP.

Below are images of the detailed comparison between MediaTek Helio X20 and X30

Apart from the Helio X30, MediaTek also introduced Helio P25, which is an upgraded version of the Helio P20 that was launched earlier this year. It uses the same 16nm TSMC process, however, it clocked a little faster than the P20.

The high-end Helio X30 is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2017 in which Vernee Apollo will be the first device come with Helio X30, we expect other devices to start shipping with the chip

You can see that China/Taiwan now mean business in every aspects of technology. Remember, Samsung is planning on adopting MediaTek to power some of their upcoming smartphones . That is to say that very soon some Samsung Galaxy devices will be powered by MediaTek chips.

  7. Another issue which I'm still trying to figure out is the attachment of letters of the alphabet to some chipsets like for example MTK6737M

What does the M actually stand for?
