What Is Gmail Smart Compose?

Smart Compose is a new Gmail feature that uses AI to predict and suggest what you may write next, hence making mailing more faster. Smart Compose is similar to auto correct and prediction features available in most Android keyboards.

Google announced this feature at the Google's I/O conference, and highlighted that it will make writing more quicker so you need less time to complete certain email tasks.

Although, as at the time of writing this, the feature is still on experimental mode. It's in pre-release phase, and as with any feature in this stage, you can test it and share your feedback with Google.

HOW TO ACCESS IT

To turn the feature on, first make sure you're using the new Gmail, and then follow the series of steps mentioned in the Gmail Help support page (link below). You need to hit the Tab key to accept a suggestion. Also, Smart Compose is currently only available in English.

  1. You can always opt out of the feature by simply going to back to settings > general > uncheck experimental access box.

  2. Smart Compose is not designed to provide answers and may not always predict factually correct information,” Google warns users.
