Xiaomi Mi 9 is the next in line of the Xiaomi Mi series, succeeding the Mi 8 which was released mid last year. The upcoming smartphone is a flagship device and as such will follow the yearly tradition by being announced sometime during the middle of the year just like the Mi 8.
However, rumours suggest that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 9 might be looking at an early launch date; February ending at the MWC and going on sale on March. Although, there haven’t been any concrete information or a good amount of leaks regarding this Mi 9 which will suggest a close launch date so launch date is most likely going to happen around the same time as its predecessor – sometime during the middle of the year. Now let’s move on to the possible specifications.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Specs
Xiaomi Mi 9 is the company’s flagship of the year and will most definitely be packing the all-new Snapdragon 855 Chipset which comes with Adreno 640 GPU. It has also been rumoured that the smartphone with the Snapdragon 855 chipset which popped up on Geekbench sometime ago under the codename “Cepheus” was Xiaomi’s Upcoming Mi 9. The rest of the details of the mysterious “Cepheus” devices gave off most of the Xiaomi Mi 9’s Specifications and also went in line with what is already being thrown around.
Xiaomi Mi 9 will obviously be running the new latest iteration of the Android Operating System – Android Pie – with Xiaomi’s MIUI Skin on top. It also is rumoured to come with a massive 6.4-inch Full HD+ 1080p display with 19:9 aspect ratio but we are yet to see any photo leaks to back this up so take this with a pinch of salt.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Performance
The RAM and Storage options will starts at 6GB/128GB but larger options will be offered, possibly up to 12GB/256GB. The standard version will also not come with 5G, which will most likely be exclusive to the Pro Version. The battery will also get a small bump in size from 3,400mAh on the Mi 8 to 3,500mAh on the Mi 9 with faster-wired Charging (32W). There is also not gonna be wireless charging on the Mi 9 as that has always been an exclusive feature of the Mix line up
Xiaomi Mi 9 Camera
As for Camera, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will be the second Xiaomi device to pack a 48MP camera after the newly released Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. If the rumours are correct, there are going to be a total of 4 cameras on the Mi 9; A Triple rear camera setup – 48MP Main Shooter, 12MP secondary shooter and a 3D ToF camera. For selfies, there will be a single 24MP Sony Sensor.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Price and Release Date
Starting price for the Xiaomi Mi 9 is set to be at about CNY 2,999 which is approximately $450 when it eventually makes it way out of China where it usually debuts. You should also know that the price will most definitely be for the based version of 6GB/128GB and other configurations will cost higher. The Only mystery of the Xiaomi Mi 9 at this point is pretty much the screen; will there be a water/teardrop notch or will it utilise the new punch hole style for its 24MP front-facing sensor?
