Why Rooney Testimonial Match Will Make History On Facebook Today

As part of the events to mark "Wayne Rooney's" 12 years service at Manchester United, there will be a ceremonial game between Manchester United and Everton FC at Old Trafford today.

It is worthy to note that Rooney joined Manchester United from Everton in a £27m deal in 2004

Why The Match Is Making Facebook History
The game will make history as the first ever game between Premier League teams to be streamed live on Facebook.

About 1.7bn people on Facebook are expected to watch it "live" worldwide via Rooney's and the Manchester United Facebook pages.

Rooney said: "I am delighted my testimonial game will be streamed globally, which will hopefully raise awareness and increase donations."

United fans would be glad to use the opportunity to see their new manager Jose Mourinho's for the first time at old Trafford and other three high profile signings so far this season; Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly.

Do you know that Manchester United's Facebook page boast of more than 70 million 'likes', while Rooney's has more than 25 million?

The money realized from the match will be pushed to charity as part of Rooney's charity work.
