If You Own a Facebook Group, You Can Now Make Money As Admin

Facebook want to put smile on the faces of active group owners by helping them earn money from their respective groups. It's a big opportunity for everyone now all you need is to have a massive group that's very active and useful to members.
Facebook group admins

Facebook is testing subscription fees for groups, where group admins can charge between $4.99 and $29.99 (N1800 – N10,800) per month for membership.

Facebook said group admins invest their time and energy to keep their groups active and that some admins asked for tools to help them continue to invest in their community.

FB has already started testing paid group subscriptions features with a small number of groups. Facebook says;

Subscription groups were created to make it easier for admins to provide these experiences with built-in tools, and to save them time so they can focus on offering members-only content.

“For members, they’re now able to sign-up and manage their subscription through the Facebook app for iOS and Android.”
Facebook said it will use what it learns from this pilot to help admins offer more to their members and continue to invest in their communities.

Who knows, WhatsApp may be next in line have this new feature knowing that Mark Zuckerberg also owns WhatsApp.

How to See Photos in Facebook Free Mode (Freebasic)

This post will show you a trick on how to view photos while using Facebook free mode otherwise known as freebasic. Ever since freebasic internet browsing was introduced in Nigeria about a year ago, it has saved many people especially those that find it difficult to afford data subscription because with free basic, you can visit some websites without airtime or active data plan on your phone.
Facebook free mode
At the moment, it's only Airtel and 9Mobile networks that supports freebasic internet in Nigeria. I don't know what MTN and Globacom are waiting for. Note that on Facebook free mode, you won't be able to view photos but with this trick, you can now view photos, pictures, images uploaded by people on Facebook. This simple trick is made possible with the help of the Facebook lite app which is the network and data friendly version of facebook app. It loads faster, saves battery, data and of course works in areas with poor network reception 📶 unlike the regular Facebook app.

So without wasting much time, I will like to begin with the requirements you need in order to see/show/view Facebook photos on free mode. Let's go there.

REQUIREMENTS
✔ An Android phone
✔️ 9Mobile or Airtel SIM card without airtime or active data plan
✔️ The Facebook Lite app; you can install it from playstore or simply by clicking here.
✔️ You network should have at least a decent 2G service but 3G or 4G are better.

PROCEDURES
✔ After downloading and installing the FB lite app, open it and log in (if it's your first time using it)
✔️ After about a minute, close the app
✔ Switch off your Data
✔️ Now head over to your phone Settings > locate App > scroll down to Facebook lite > tap it, then clear the data of the Facebook lite.
✔️ Then switch on your data and launch your Facebook Lite app
✔️ Enter your login details again
Facebook lite login
At this moment, you will notice that it won't load when trying to login, all you need to do is just exit the fb lite app and open it again. This time, it should load. You will be welcomed to data mode and also see option for switching back to free mode.
See photos Facebook free mode
At this juncture, you will notice that you are on Data mode and you will start seeing all pictures. This means all images and photos will be visible for you to see now in Facebook free mode (freebasic) but you won't be able to watch videos on the Facebook Lite app.

Facebook Banned 583 Million Fake Accounts

Facebook axed 583 million fake accounts in the first three months of 2018, the social media giant said Tuesday, detailing how it enforces “community standards” against sexual or violent images, terrorist propaganda or hate speech.
Zuckerberg

Responding to calls for transparency after the Cambridge Analytica data privacy scandal, Facebook said those closures came on top of blocking millions of attempts to create fake accounts every day.
Despite this, the group said fake profiles still make up 3-4 percent of all active accounts.

It claimed to detect almost 100 percent of spam and to have removed 837 million posts assimilated to spam over the same period.

Facebook pulled or slapped warnings on nearly 30 million posts containing sexual or violent images, terrorist propaganda or hate speech during the first quarter.

Improved technology using artificial intelligence had helped it act on 3.4 million posts containing graphic violence, nearly three times more than it had in the last quarter of 2017.

In 85.6 percent of the cases, Facebook detected the images before being alerted to them by users, said the report, issued the day after the company said about 200 apps had been suspended on its platform as part of an investigation into misuse of private user data.

The figure represents between 0.22 and 0.27 percent of the total content viewed by Facebook’s more than two billion users from January through March.

“In other words, of every 10,000 content views, an estimate of 22 to 27 contained graphic violence,” the report said.

Responses to rule violations include removing content, adding warnings to content that may be disturbing to some users while not violating Facebook standards; and notifying law enforcement in case of a “specific, imminent and credible threat to human life”.

Improved IT also helped Facebook take action against 1.9 million posts containing terrorist propaganda, a 73 percent increase. Nearly all were dealt with before any alert was raised, the company said.

It attributed the increase to the enhanced use of photo detection technology.

Hate speech is harder to police using automated methods, however, as racist or homophobic hate speech is often quoted on posts by their targets or activists.

– Sarcasm needs human touch –

“It may take a human to understand and accurately interpret nuances like… self-referential comments or sarcasm,” the report said, noting that Facebook aims to “protect and respect both expression and personal safety”.

Facebook took action against 2.5 million pieces of hate speech content during the period, a 56 increase over October-December. But only 38 percent had been detected through Facebook’s efforts — the rest flagged up by users.

The posts that keep the Facebook reviewers the busiest are those showing adult nudity or sexual activity — quite apart from child pornography, which is not covered by the report.

Some 21 million such posts were handled in the period, a similar number to October-December 2017.

That was less than 0.1 percent of viewed content — which includes text, images, videos, links, live videos or comments on posts — Facebook said, adding it had dealt with nearly 96 percent of the cases before being alerted to them.

Facebook has come under fire for showing too much zeal on this front, such as removing images of artwork tolerated under its own rules.

In March, Facebook apologised for temporarily removing an advert featuring French artist Eugene Delacroix’s famous work “Liberty Leading the People” because it depicts a bare-breasted woman.

Facebook’s head of global policy management Monika Bicket said the group had kept a commitment to recruit 3,000 more staff to lift the numbers dedicated to enforcing standards to 7,500 at the start of this year.

Facebook Dating And Match Making Feature Coming Soon - Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is a serious business guy, I mean he is very serious. He want to have a share in almost all internet platforms so he is not relenting in his quest to conquer even more. I think his main rival now is Google.
Facebook Dating

Recall few days ago, Facebook Inc announced the introduction of ‘down vote’ and ‘up vote’ features that allow you flag negative comments.

The latest feature to be added on Facebook now is dating features also known as match making feature.

Facebook dating is a new match making features that will be Tinder rival, and all those who are looking for love, relationship that could potentially lead to marriage will find the new feature handy.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed this to software developers at Facebook’s annual F8 conference that a dating service would be a natural fit for a company that specializes in connecting people online, according to Reuters.

“There are 200 million people on Facebook that list themselves as single, so clearly there’s something to do here,” Zuckerberg said.

Are you single and searching? Mark may be of help with this feature.

Facebook To Add Dislike Button (upvote and downvote)

So Facebook has a dislike button now – only it’s shaped like an arrow. There’s one up arrow and one down arrow, and both arrows sit below comments in several areas of Facebook. Much like Reddit, comments are upvoted or downvoted, and rise or fall in large threads as such. Basically Facebook copied Reddit.
Facebook downvote button

I don’t think copying Reddit’s voting system is a bad move for Facebook. I believe the social network should use any methods necessary to try to keep users inside their walled garden of internal sharing and button-mashing. Anything to distract from the continued public shaming Facebook’s been the subject of over the past few weeks.

With this new up- and down-vote system, Facebook hopes to let the public – the Facebook public – do the same job Reddit users do on a daily basis. “Support better comments,” said the first public notices of this new system. “Press the up arrow if you think that a comment is helpful or insightful. Your input is anonymous.”

“Stop bad comments,” said the Facebook feature’s notification of the downvote. “Press the down arrow if a comment has bad intentions or is disrespectful. It’s still OK to disagree in a respectful way.” With the tapping of your finger, on the button, anonymously!

Facebook shared a message this afternoon about the roll-out of this new set of features. “Facebook is a place for free expression, but we also recognize that there should be a way for people tell us and each other which comments are most thoughtful and useful.”

“To that end, we’re running a test that introduces an upvote and downvote action for comments on large public Page posts,” said a Facebook representative. “This feature allows people to push those thoughtful and engaging comments to the top of the discussion thread, and to move down the ones that are simply attacks or filled with profanity.”
Facebook dislike button

Of particular importance to the everyday average user is the location of these new buttons. They don’t appear on every single post, or every single comment. They’re reserved for large public Page posts, specifically – for the time being. They will not (or should not) appear on personal News Feeds or “interactions with friends.”

Let us know if you see these upvote and downvote buttons anywhere other than large public Page posts. And be on the lookout for more buttons and changes to Facebook in the coming weeks and months. They wont let millions of users leave their service without a fight!

Mark Zuckerberg Defends Facebook Business Model

Press Release: Mark Zuckerberg defended Facebook’s business model on Wednesday against fierce criticism of how it feeds user data to advertisers, even as he admitted his own personal information had been leaked to outside companies.

Facing tough questioning in a second day of high-stakes hearings in Congress, the 33-year-old CEO conceded that regulation of social media companies — under mounting scrutiny over the misuse of user data — is “inevitable.”
Mark

But he stiffly defended Facebook’s use of the data and postings of the 2.2 billion users of its free platform — in order to attract the ad revenue that the $480 billion company depends on.

Speaking in the wake of a scandal over the massive leak of data to a British political consultant, Zuckerberg reiterated that the company had shut down the pipeline that allowed such data, including his own, to slip into the hands of third parties.

A day earlier, Zuckerberg said he took personal responsibility for the improper use of 87 million people’s personal data by Cambridge Analytica, which worked for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Yet in his testimony to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, he was also steadfast in arguing that Facebook’s users themselves are choosing to make their data available, and that the company’s “opt-in” provisions were enough to protect their privacy rights.

“Every time that a person chooses to share something on Facebook, they’re proactively going to the service and choosing that they want to share a photo, write a message to someone.”

“Every time there is a control right there,” Zuckerberg said.

– ‘Real trust gap’ –

Zuckerberg faced tougher questions from House lawmakers over Facebook’s stance than during Tuesday’s five-hour session in the Senate, where his defense of data sharing was weakly challenged.

“It’s strikes me that there’s a real trust gap here. Why should we trust you?” asked Democratic Representative Mike Doyle.

“The only way we’re going to close this trust gap is through legislation that creates and empowers a sufficiently resourced expert oversight agency, with rulemaking authority to protect the digital privacy and ensure that companies protect our users’ data.”

Amid rising calls for legislation to better protect the data that social media and other internet companies siphon off from users, Zuckerberg said he accepted that legal restrictions of some sort were in the cards — while adding a word of caution.

“The internet is growing in importance around the world in people’s lives, and I think that it is inevitable that there will need to be some regulation,” he said.

– Accepts European standard but… –

Zuckerberg said the European standard, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to come into effect on May 25, was more stringent than what was currently in place at Facebook and suggested it could serve as a rough model for US rules in the future.

Facebook is implementing the GDPR standards for European users next month, and some of its rules will be extended to US and other users later, he confirmed.

“The GDPR requires us to do a few more things and we are going to extend that to the world,” he said.

“We’re working on doing that as quickly as possible.”

At the same time, Zuckerberg was not willing to let that erode Facebook’s fundamental model, in which advertisers make use of the massive data the social network collects on its users — what they like and dislike, where they go, who they link to — to pinpoint marketing targets.

Asked whether Facebook would implement outside Europe the specific GDPR standard that allows people to opt out of the use of their data for direct marketing, Zuckerberg resisted any commitment.

“I’m not sure how we’re going to implement that yet,” he said.

The billionaire Facebook founder was challenged more directly by Democratic Representative Anna Eshoo: “Are you willing to change your business model in the interest of protecting personal privacy?”

“Congresswoman, I’m not sure what that means,” he replied.

Will Zuckerberg Delete Facebook?

THE TRUTH YOU MUST KNOW NOW
Yes Zuckerberg is planning on making Facebook a paid service but he also said there will be "free version" which will contain ads while the paid version won't contain ads. So you see, it's not as if Facebook will be completely a paid platform where you must pay in order to use it.

Another point is that if even Facebook server is congested, do you think it will be fixed by massive forwarding of messages on the platform? This is really hilarious 😂. Webmasters reading this should be aware that by forwarding of many messages will do more harm than good to the server if it's actually congested as they claim. Lol i can't stop laughing at this nonsense in circulation.

So don't believe all the misleading information currently circulating on Facebook.

Although Facebook founder is currently in a big mess and some competitors are utilizing this opportunity to damage his reputation but i see him coming out victorious. What do you think?

Have you seen that message or video on Facebook or YouTube?

Zuckerberg Vows To Work Harder To Block Hate Speech

Press Release Washington – Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said his company would step up efforts to block hate messages in Myanmar as he faced questioning by the U.S. Congress about electoral interference and hate speech on the platform.

Facebook has been accused by human rights advocates of not doing enough to weed out hate messages on its social-media network in Myanmar, where it is a dominant communications system.
Zuckerberg on hate speech

“What’s happening in Myanmar is a terrible tragedy and we need to do more,” Zuckerberg said during a five-hour joint hearing of the Senate Commerce Committee and Senate Judiciary Committee.

More than 650,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled Myanmar’s Rakhine state into Bangladesh since insurgent attacks sparked a security crackdown last August.

United Nations officials investigating a possible genocide in Myanmar said last month that Facebook had been a source of anti-Rohingya propaganda.

Marzuki Darusman, chairman of the UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Myanmar, said in March that social media had played a “determining role” in Myanmar.

“It has … substantively contributed to the level of acrimony and dissension and conflict … within the public. Hate speech is certainly of course a part of that. As far as the Myanmar situation is concerned, social media is Facebook, and Facebook is social media,” he said.

Zuckerberg said Facebook was hiring dozens more Burmese-language speakers to remove threatening content.

“It’s hard to do it without people who speak the local language, and we need to ramp up our effort there dramatically,” he said, adding that Facebook was also asking civil society groups to help it identify figures who should be banned from the network.

Cambridge Analytica: Facebook Warns Nigerians

Cambridge Analytica: Facebook warns Nigerians to manage apps, control access to data.

Facebook has officially released the correct number of Nigerian users their data were accessed by Cambridge Analytica. This is as it warns that users should manage apps that they use and control access to the data those apps can see.

Since the scandal of Cambridge Analytica’s alleged processing of user’s data for electoral manipulations broke out, several figures have been bandied on social media and other platforms about the number of Nigerian users Cambridge Analytica had access to their data.
Mark Zuckerberg
Facebook Founder: Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook has officially confirmed that about 78 Nigerian users were directly involved as they installed the app provided by Cambridge Analytica while 271,469 users were potentially impacted in Nigeria because they are friends to those who would have installed the app elsewhere in the world.

However, a facebook spokesperson who pleaded anonymity has warned Nigerians to manage the apps they use to forestall future occurrence.

“We want to encourage people to manage the apps they use. We already show people what apps their accounts are connected to and control what data they’ve permitted those apps to use through app settings. We are putting a link at the top of people’s News Feeds to make sure that everyone sees it. Furthermore, it’s important for us to tell people if and how their data may have been accessed via This Is Your Digital Life,” he added.

He revealed that Facebook is taking numerous measures. One of those being that everyone globally on their Facebook page will see an alert leading them to the apps setting where they can review the apps they’ve allowed access to their data.

Additionally, those potentially impacted by CA will also see the alert that will take them to see what data might have been shared.

Apparently to increase transparency, accountability and maybe prevent election interference, Facebook also announced changes to the way advertisements are managed both on its platform and on Instagram.

Vice-President in charge of Ads at facebook, Rob Goldman and his counterpart for Local & Pages, Alex Himel, said Facebook has realised that users hardly know who or where advertisements on the platform are coming from and therefore has decided to correct that mistake.

They said: “We believe that when you visit a Page or see an ad on Facebook, it should be clear who it’s coming from. We also think it’s important for people to be able to see the other ads a Page is running, even if they’re not directed at you.

“That’s why today we’re announcing important changes to the way we manage ads and Pages on Facebook as well as Instagram. These are designed to increase transparency and accountability, as well as prevent election interference”.

Last October, the platform announced that only authorized advertisers will be able to run electoral ads on Facebook or Instagram. Now, the company is extending that requirement to anyone that wants to show issue ads, like political topics being debated across the country. Facebook is working with third parties to develop a list of key issues, which the company said it will refine over time.

The platform has also said that to get authorized, advertisers will need to confirm their identity and location even as they will be prohibited from running political ads, electoral or issue-based, until they are authorized.

In addition, Facebook said that such ads will be clearly labelled in the top left corner as Political Ad and marked as “paid for by” information.

The company started testing the authorization process this week, and people will begin seeing the label and additional information in the US later this spring.

According to vanguard, Facebook is also investing in artificial intelligence and adding more people to help find advertisers that should have gone through the authorization process but did not. The company realized it won’t catch every ad that should be labeled, and it encourages anyone who sees an unlabeled political ad to report it. People can do this by tapping the three dots at the top right corner of the ad and selecting “Report Ad.”

Facebook Introduces Bulk App Removal Tool To Clean Up Your Privacy Settings

Facebook has launched a Bulk app Removal Tool to clean up Your Privacy Settings and apps you added on your Facebook account.

As you know, there are apps embedded on Facebook apps which can be useful and fun to use, but they also have permission to do all sorts of things with your info.

Some of the apps on Facebook include "games", "on this day" "page manager" etc. Most, if not all the gaming apps at one stage in your life becomes useless hence you look for a method to remove it from your Facebook account.

For the apps you use regularly and trust, that’s not a big problem, but if you’ve got a lot of apps that you tried once and then stopped using or forgot about, that could turn into a problem one day.

This update is coming few weeks after Facebook was accused of violating user privacy by data privacy scandal linked with data analytics firm Cambridge analytical (CA). This made some reputable Facebook account owners like Playboy delete their official Facebook page.

Nevertheless, the good news is Facebook now lets you bulk remove third-party apps, and any posts published on behalf of those apps. I believe it will be a relief to many.

HOW TO BULK REMOVE THIRD PARTY APPS FROM FACEBOOK

✔️ Go to the Facebook settings if you are on desktop
✔️ Click on Apps and you’ll see all the third party apps connected to your Facebook account.

facebook app removal
✔ Click on any number of the apps you’d like to disconnect, and use the remove button at the top of the screen to do so

✔️ You’ll also be given a prompt to delete all posts those apps may have posted to your timeline / profile. Hit the delete button and you are good to go.

For Mobile:

>Click on the three horizontal lines on the navigation bar at the bottom and scrolling down to settings. From there, head to the Apps section.

Now here is the most interesting part, according to Facebook, any app you haven't used for a period of 3 months will be automatically removed from your account.

Facebook needs ‘a few years’ to fix problems: Zuckerberg

Facebook will likely need “a few years” to fix the problems uncovered by the revelations on the hijacking of private user data, chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said in an interview released Monday.

Speaking to the news site Vox, Zuckerberg defended the company’s business model and shot back at criticism of the social networking giant from Apple CEO Tim Cook last week.
Mark Zuckerberg

Zuckerberg maintained that one of Facebook’s problems was that it was “idealistic,” focusing on the positive aspects of connecting people and that “we didn’t spend enough time investing in, or thinking through, some of the downside uses of the tools.”

“I think now people are appropriately focused on some of the risks and downsides as well,” he said.

“I think we will dig through this hole, but it will take a few years. I wish I could solve all these issues in three months or six months, but I just think the reality is that solving some of these questions is just going to take a longer period of time.”

Zuckerberg also fired back at comments last week from Cook, who argued that Facebook got into trouble because of a business model focused on monetizing people’s data.

“I find that argument — that if you’re not paying that somehow we can’t care about you, to be extremely glib. And not at all aligned with the truth,” he said.

“The reality here is that if you want to build a service that helps connect everyone in the world, then there are a lot of people who can’t afford to pay. And therefore, as with a lot of media, having an advertising-supported model is the only rational model.”

The interview was the latest by the Facebook chief aimed at blunting the impact of a scandal over the harvesting of personal data on 50 million users by a political firm linked to Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Authorities on both sides of the Atlantic have launched investigations into the mishandling of user data and have been seeking Zuckerberg’s testimony.

Facebook Launches #SheMeansBusiness in Nigeria.

Facebook this week announced the launch of #SheMeansBusiness, an initiative designed to inspire and train female entrepreneurs across the country to build, grow and start their own businesses. In a recent study conducted by Development Economics on behalf of Facebook, it is estimated that businesses set up by women in Nigeria over the next five years (by 2022), hold the key to unlocking N19.7 billion for the economy, with the opportunity of creating a further 8.9 million additional jobs.
SheMeansBusiness

“We know that when women do better, economies do better” commented Ebele Okobi, Facebook Public Policy Director, Africa. “The study conducted by Development Economics further highlights this, with research suggesting that an estimated 7 million new businesses could be set up by women in Nigeria by 2021* – placing a greater importance on the role of women’s entrepreneurial ambitions for overall economic and social development in the country.”

Partnering with She Leads Africa (SLA), #SheMeansBusiness Nigeria is the first to launch in Sub-Saharan Africa and will bring together thousands of female entrepreneurs in a series of day workshops and training sessions across six cities in Nigeria, including Lagos, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Abuja and Aba. With applications opening on March 27th 2018 at sheleadsafrica.org/shemeansbusiness, training sessions will then be followed by post-training clinics aimed at re-engaging, advising and mentoring participants.

As part of the launch, a dedicated #SheMeansBusiness website will also be developed and feature:

Inspiring stories from female trailblazers who are following their dreams. These are the entrepreneurs who are redefining what’s possible for women in business in Nigeria – inspiring those who might one day become new entrepreneurs themselves
Free tools and resources – online courses to give more women across Nigeria the tools, support and practical advice they need to grow their businesses
Access and information to a link of communities who can help advise and direct on setting and achieving business goals.

Commenting on the partnership and trainings Afua Osei, Co-Founder of She Leads Africa added “We’re excited to continue our partnership with Facebook to expand access to the digital skills necessary to move African businesses forward. We know that with the right tools and support, African women can compete on a global level and we look forward to taking these critical digital tools to entrepreneurs all across Nigeria.”

“In Nigeria, women form the backbone of a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, with the number of new women-owned small business Pages on Facebook increasing by 319 percent between 2016 and 2017”, said Abi Williams Facebook’s SMB Sales Manager, EMEA. “#SheMeansBusiness aims to empower personal business ambitions and create opportunities for would-be entrepreneurs in Nigeria to meet and learn from others.”

Reason Why Playboy Deletes Facebook Account

Playboy is the latest popular company to delete its Facebook page following the privacy issues on the social media platform.
Playboy Facebook account

This means the Playboy accounts that Playboy Enterprises manages has been removed and deactivated on Facebook and it now directly affects about 25 million fans, according to the company. Playboy becomes the latest company to join the call to #DeleteFacebook after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, punctuated on Friday by Elon Musk’s order to remove Tesla and SpaceX pages from Zuckerberg’s social media juggernaut.

”The recent news about Facebook’s alleged mismanagement of users’ data has solidified our decision to suspend our activity on the platform at this time,” reads the statement. “There are more than 25 million fans who engage with Playboy via our various Facebook pages, and we do not want to be complicit in exposing them to the reported practices.”

While Playboy certainly doesn’t hold the immense cultural influence it once did, the brand still holds a certain cachet with an older generation of humans. You know, the ones that still use Facebook. In 2014, Playboy said that Facebook was its largest audience. Of course, that was back when the magazine stopped posting nudes (a practice it restarted last year) in order to court a larger following on social media.

It’s worth noting that Playboy, SpaceX, and Telsa are, however, still active on Instagram, which is owned by Facebook; a fact that many Facebook deleters seem happy to ignore.

Very Soon, You Will Start Seeing Facebook Downvote Button

I am sure you have come across some posts on Facebook that doesn't make any sense or add value to you but there is no way to express your feeling except the sad 😔 and angry 😡 emoji buttons.

Now Facebook is working on a Downvote button that will be available in the platform to help make it more user friendly, allowing people express their feelings towards posts and comments which will also help reduce the the rate of fake news and useless comments on Facebook.

However, the downvotes feature is not in any way related to "dislike" that facebookers have been craving for or a look alike of Reddit upvotes and downvotes.

But the Facebook “downvote” button is an innovation that will help clean up some of the hateful comments and fake news posts that are currently wreaking havoc on the social media platform.

WHERE IT WILL BE FOUND
When it's fully rolled out, the downvote button will appear in the area where you would normally “Like” a post or reply to a comment.

Whenever you tap on it, the downvote button hides a comment, and gives users additional reporting options like "Offensive", "Misleading", and "Off Topic".

These feature will help Facebook figure out if the comment is objectionable, a form of "fake news", or just irrelevant.

Facebook revealed that the test will affect about 5% of Android users who have “English” set as the default language in the app.

Meanwhile, at the moment, the downvote button only appears on public Page posts and not on Groups posts or individual posts.

People are still clamoring for Dislike button to be added on Facebook.

Facebook has announced a new development to it's products. According to Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's founder, the social media platform is now making adjustments to help users enjoy the time spent on the platform.
The new developments will ensure users see more of content from family and friends and less public content. Mark released a statement on his verified Facebook page with regards to this. Read below:

One of our big focus areas for 2018 is making sure the time we all spend on Facebook is time well spent.

"We built Facebook to help people stay connected and bring us closer together with the people that matter to us. That's why we've always put friends and family at the core of the experience. Research shows that strengthening our relationships improves our well-being and happiness.
But recently we've gotten feedback from our community that public content posts from businesses, brands and media is crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other.

It's easy to understand how we got here. Video and other public content have exploded on Facebook in the past couple of years. Since there's more public content than posts from your friends and family, the balance of what's in News Feed has shifted away from the most important thing Facebook can do -- help us connect with each other.

We feel a responsibility to make sure our services aren’t just fun to use, but also good for people's well-being. So we've studied this trend carefully by looking at the academic research and doing our own research with leading experts at universities.

The research shows that when we use social media to connect with people we care about, it can be good for our well-being. We can feel more connected and less lonely, and that correlates with long term measures of happiness and health. On the other hand, passively reading articles or watching videos -- even if they're entertaining or informative -- may not be as good.

Based on this, we're making a major change to how we build Facebook. I'm changing the goal I give our product teams from focusing on helping you find relevant content to helping you have more meaningful social interactions.

We started making changes in this direction last year, but it will take months for this new focus to make its way through all our products. The first changes you'll see will be in News Feed, where you can expect to see more from your friends, family and groups.

As we roll this out, you'll see less public content like posts from businesses, brands, and media. And the public content you see more will be held to the same standard -- it should encourage meaningful interactions between people.

For example, there are many tight-knit communities around TV shows and sports teams. We've seen people interact way more around live videos than regular ones. Some news helps start conversations on important issues. But too often today, watching video, reading news or getting a page update is just a passive experience.

Now, I want to be clear: by making these changes, I expect the time people spend on Facebook and some measures of engagement will go down. But I also expect the time you do spend on Facebook will be more valuable. And if we do the right thing, I believe that will be good for our community and our business over the long term too.

At its best, Facebook has always been about personal connections. By focusing on bringing people closer together
whether it's with family and friends, or around important moments in the world
we can help make sure that Facebook is time well spent."

Facebook Messenger Lite App Records Over 100 Million Downloads

Remember the Facebook lite app that was introduced in October last year? It has achieved a new milestone as the app has been downloaded more than 100 million times on Google Playstore.

Its Google Play listing now reveals it has scored over 100 million installs meaning it's taking the footsteps of the regular messenger app and in no time, it should add more millions to the numbers.

Facebook Messenger Lite app built with an aim to operate with as little resources as possible (especially data and network). I mean the app is targeted at people using low-end devices and those residing in areas with low network.

So in line with the focus, it was made available in a handful of developing countries first, before expanding globally.

In October this year, the app officially arrived in the US, UK, Canada, and Ireland.

Bad News for Impersonators as Facebook Introduces Facial Recognition

Facebook is on a serious cleansing adventure as they are now determined to fight against some dubious and tricky activities on the platform. Just in my recent post, I wrote about how Facebook is planning to start demoting pages that engages in click baiting. Now, Mark Zuckerberg is introducing a facial recognition feature that will notify you once someone else uses your profile to impersonate you.
Facebook facial recognition
This new facial recognition features allow you to better manage your identity on the social network. The technology gives you the ability to issue notifications whenever you show up in someone else's photo.

HOW IT WORKS
Facebook will notify you once you appear in another person's profile photo even if he or she didn't tag you.
According to Facebook, You’re in control of your image on Facebook and can make choices such as whether to tag yourself, leave yourself untagged, or reach out to the person who posted the photo if you have concerns about it.

The greatest part of this is that you will also be notified if someone is trying to impersonate you on Facebook by using your photo as their profile image.

Meanwhile, it's important to note that this feature is optional and it's totally under your control. This means, you can turn it on/off. If your tag suggestions setting is currently set to “none,” then your default face recognition setting will be set to “off” and will remain that way until you decide to change it.

Also, visually impaired people on Facebook are not left out as Facebook also introducing a feature that will allow them to identify those who appear on photos on news feed even if they aren’t tagged.

I think Facebook is becoming even more technical and trying to sanitize the social media platform which before now, seemed to be crowded with impersonators and scammers.

Facebook Will Hide Your Post if You Do This...

Facebook is getting Wiser. I mean you can not trick Facebook like you used to before. First, it started by reducing the Facebook group and page post reachability and now it want to start demoting spammy posts targeted at getting undeserved engagements.

Spammy posts are posts that gets users into interacting with likes, shares, comments, tags etc. For example, “LIKE this if you’re a slay queen!” This tactic, known as “engagement bait,” seeks to take advantage of FB News Feed algorithm by boosting engagement in order to get greater reach.

Some facebook users values LIKES & COMMENTS more than their life hence they apply any possible trick in order to get this. Some babes even go to the extent of uploading semi nude pics to get more LIKES and COMMENTS from people especially the male folks.

So, starting from this week, Facebook will start demoting individual posts from people and Pages that use engagement bait.

At the moment, Facebook is giving a warning period to publisher’s time to adapt and stop their engagement baiting techniques before rolling out the changes.

Pages, groups or profiles that ignores this warning and continue with the trickish method will see their posts reach reduced drastically.

HOW IT WORKS
For Facebook to reduce the reach of your posts, it will demote it, sometimes, the post will be hidden from the eyes of people on Facebook. So when FB hide you posts, less people will see it on their news feed and you won't get much comments, likes, shares and tags on that particular posts.

How do you see this move?

Facebook Introduces Click-to-WhatsApp Button

A new feature is available on Facebook and it's called click-to-WhatsApp button. The button will let advertisers connect with over one billion WhatsApp users.

Facebook confirmed that it is rolling out the 'Click-to-WhatsApp' feature slowly, beginning with North and South America, Africa, Australia and most of Asia. But notable exception is Europe probably because of issues WhatsApp has with EU regulators over data sharing with Facebook.

This new Facebook feature is similar to the click-to-Messenger button that Facebook introduced in its ads in November last year. The click-to-Messenger ads debuted on Instagram in May this year. According to Facebook;

"Many people already use WhatsApp to communicate with small businesses. It's a fast, convenient way to stay in touch," Pancham Gajjar, Product Marketing Manager, Facebook, was quoted as saying.

"By adding a click-to-WhatsApp button to Facebook ads, businesses can now make it even easier for people to learn about their products, set up an appointment or use their service," he added.

Facebook revealed that over a million Pages currently include WhatsApp numbers in their posts. Facebook has over 2 billion users already and counting.

HOW FACEBOOK CLICK-TO-WHATSAPP BUTTON FEATURE WORKS

Businesses or companies that have WhatsApp numbers can add 'send message' buttons with the WhatsApp logo to their Facebook ads and those ads will only be accessible to users who have WhatsApp installed on their smartphones.

To commence conversations, you must add the business' WhatsApp numbers to your contacts.

After you have done this, the messaging app opens with a default message expressing interest, which can be edited by users before being sent.
