Facebook is currently testing ads in Groups to even diversify its streams of income apart from the regular feeds ads. I was greeted by this message few hours ago when i stumbled on some Facebook groups;
On further research, i found out that even TechCrunch has contacted Facebook to know more about the new ads in Groups and below is the reply.
“We have started to test delivering ads to people in Facebook Groups, and will be evaluating the response before determining how we will move forward,”.
According to Facebook, the ads will appear similar to News Feed ads and these ads will be targeted by Group topic as well as the standard identity-based targeting and ground members interest.
Apart from the groups ads, the social media giants is also testing new forms of Live video mid-roll ads as well as Sponsored Messages from businesses in Messenger.
Facebook continues its tremendous growth and success as it recorded 500 million group users in the year 2014 and now it has doubled thanks to buy-and-sell Groups for commerce and other communities. Other popular group categories are families, love, cliques and silly meme sharing, football and professional discussion places, Groups have grown into a major part of the Facebook experience to the extent that it now has its own separate application just like Messenger app.
This new invention will definitely make Facebook richer and further strengthen its grip as the most popular social media platform on Earth.
