8 Things To Consider When Shopping for a Good Android Smartphone

Going by smartphone sales, Android is the most popular mobile platform today, and various versions of the operating system run on the majority of smartphones in virtually all countries of the world. Because of this popularity, a shopper looking to buy an Android smartphone often has to choose among a sea of devices, and the process can be overwhelming.
shop for good smartphones
This is why we have deemed it necessary to come up with our very own Android smartphone buying guide. The following is everything you need to know to buy the best Android smartphone for your wants and needs.

1. Design
Today, smartphones are as much a luxury item as they are an everyday computing device. Consequently, major manufacturers have invested a lot in ensuring their flagship handsets look as premium as they cost. When out shopping for a new phone, therefore, pay attention to the design and get something that appeals to the eye. Additionally, inspect the phone’s ergonomics, and hold it while in the store to judge how easy and comfortable it will be to operate. A 5-inch screen or smaller is
often the best way to go, especially if one-hand use is a priority.
A beautiful device is one thing, but you will also want it to stay attractive for at least a few months. Inquire about the phone’s durability from the merchant, and learn what measures the manufacturer has taken to ensure its long-term protection. A Gorilla Glass screen and a solid metal finish are good indicators that your smartphone is strong enough to handle inevitable knocks and drops.

2. Display
Although some users prefer smartphones with smaller screens for their compact design and portability, larger devices offer more surface for multimedia use, eBook reading, and multi-window functionality. The size of the smartphone you get will, therefore, depends on your preferences. Nevertheless, screen size is only one consideration. You should also pay attention to things like resolution, brightness, color quality and viewing angles to get the best visual experience possible.
Today, even budget Android devices come with 1920 x 1080-pixel Full-HD resolution panels to offer acceptable clarity and vibrancy. Screens less than 4.7-inches in size can comfortably accommodate lower resolutions, but if you want a larger display, your baseline should be at 1080p.

3. Performance
Most mid-range phones can easily handle basic tasks, but for demanding multitasking and 3D gaming, you should get a device with stellar internal tech. When comparing specs, it is advisable to pay more attention to how new the processors in the smartphones are, and less to the clock speeds or the number of CPU cores. Newer processors are often faster and more efficient, which results in better performance and longer battery life. They also offer better graphics, swift cameras, and improved LTE speeds. Among the Qualcomm CPUs, the new leader of the bunch is the Snapdragon 821 which at the moment is only available on the Google Pixel and the Pixel XL. Nonetheless, you can still get excellent performance results from the 820, which powers high-end devices like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5.
Other than the processor, RAM is another important hardware component to consider. For seamless multitasking, try to avoid budget handsets with less than 2GB of system memory and if possible, aim for the 4GB flagship standard.
A decent CPU and RAM combo is essential for optimum smartphone performance.

4. Software
Among the reasons smartphone users prefer Android to iOS is that it offers a more customizable user interface, better file managing, and flexible sharing options. Moreover, useful Google apps are native to Android, including Google Maps, which is the best maps assistant for mobile phones by far.
That said, simply running Android doesn’t seal the deal on a smartphone purchase. You should also consider the following:

5. The OS version
An up-to- date Android version is necessary to ensure you get the newest and best software features available. Recent OS releases not only offer a bevy of upgrades but also come with better optimization, which improves general performance. Android 7.x Nougat is Google’s latest mobile OS, but because of its limited availability, version 6.x Marshmallow is acceptable. Just make sure the smartphone you get has a high likelihood of receiving the update.

6. The Custom UI
Android phone makers are known to trick out the software with custom UI overlays, which offer different menus, gestures, and other enhancements. A smartphone can be running the same Android version as another, but offer a different software experience. Some manufacturers such as ASUS and Lenovo keep the stock Android feel reasonably intact and tweak what needs to be tweaked, but others like Huawei and Samsung go to great lengths to create a more personalized feel. Before you reach for your wallet, therefore, have a go with the interface to see how pleasant it is to navigate and how useful its unique features are.

7. The Camera
Cameras on phones did not mean much a few years ago, but thanks to today’s age of social
media, users regard a good shooter as a top priority feature on a smartphone. Many Android phones are boasting sensors with 12-megapixels and above, but you should know that these numbers do not tell the whole story. Look for equally important additional features such as optical image stabilization, or OIS, which reduces blur and improves low-light performance.
High-end smartphones also offer a dual-camera setup for an optional depth effect (also known as background blur), optical zoom capabilities and wide-angle photography.

8. Battery
Samsung Galaxy S4 battery
Samsung Standard Battery for Galaxy S4
The rated battery capacity can be a reliable way to determine how long a phone will last on a single charge. However, factors such as screen size and resolution, the processor and the operating system will impact the battery life a great deal. A smartphone’s stay-awake time is, therefore, a collective effort from the battery, the hardware, and the software.
Regardless, picking a phone with at least a 3000mAh battery will increase your chances at long battery life. However, if you need your LG v20 battery replacement, that is also possible these days. From there, you can use test websites such as the GSMArena battery life tool to get
a better picture and eventually buy the phone with the best battery life.

Bonus features
The above are the main things to consider while buying an Android smartphone, but sometimes you can get stuck between two seemingly perfect devices, which check every box on your list.
When this happens, turn your attention to bonus features such as:
A fingerprint scanner - Fingerprint security makes it easier and faster to unlock your device, and also enables the use of secure financial services such as Android Pay.

Water resistance - For the best protection from water damage, choose a phone with 1P67 or higher certification.
Availability of accessories - Accessories such as battery packs, USB cables, headphones, charging adaptors, cases and glass screen protectors should be readily available for purchase

● Multiband connectivity - Multi-band capable phones eliminate the carrier compatibility concern by being able to work with both GSM and CDMA carriers.

Removable battery - Removable batteries are a rarity these days, but if it is one of your priorities, there are a few good options to choose from, including the fan-favorite LG G5.

MicroSD storage - Although a sizeable internal memory capacity is important, a microSD card slot will give you the freedom to expand your phone’s storage if need be.

Final words
The large number of new devices running Android might result in a confusing shopping experience. By following the tips above, however, you are much likely to land the device that best suits your needs and your budget.

To check whether the rooting was successful, you need to install the special app. Go to Google Play and find Root Checker. Install the app and click on "verify the root." The app will then examine the system of your phone and tell you whether the rooting was successful or not.

Protect Your Phone From Malware

Once rooted, your phone is vulnerable to malware. Make sure to install antivirus apps and manage SuperUser rights wisely.

When apps make requests for root-level access, think twice before clicking on allow. If the software seems suspicious, don't allow the access.

Reason Why Online Dating Is Dangerous

WITH the coming of the internet came the good, bad and ugly. There have been successful businesses, lasting relationships and even beautiful marriages that sprung from the internet. There have also been serial rape cases, serial killing, theft, scams and plain evil which sprung from the internet.

These issues are all over the world, like the murder and dismemberment of Ingrid Lyne, a 40-year-old Seattle-area mother of three. Closer to home are the cases of late Cynthia Osokogu, the only daughter of General Frank Osokogu (rtd), who was lured by Facebook friends to Lagos, drugged and killed in 2012 and a manager in Shell Development Petroleum Company (SDPC) Nigeria and a businessman were killed in Rivers State by fraudsters impersonating as women on a dating site in 2014.

Hence, our focus today is enlightening Nigerians on the dangers that can arise from online dating and most importantly, equip us with a knowledge of how to stay safe while meeting people and possibly starting relations with persons met via the internet.

Nick Tsinonis, co-founder of Scamalytics, which creates software designed to prevent scammers from targeting people on online dating sites;

1) Keep chats restricted to the website or app: “It’s really important to keep all dialogue restricted to the messaging services on the website. If you keep conversations strictly on the site scammers are unlikely to target you, because they know the dating site will detect their behaviour.”

Background check:

2) Block anyone suspicious: “On the dating site users’ behavior can be monitored, so if someone becomes abusive or inappropriate, the site can respond accordingly. You also have the ability to block someone on a dating site messaging system.”

3) Take time to get to know someone before meeting: “When you meet someone you can quickly feel like you know them really well, because it’s often easier to connect in writing and to read more into the written word than the spoken word. This can mean you rush into things, and relationships may move quicker than you expect. Always bear in mind that the other person is a stranger. Take your time to really get to know someone, and ensure he or she is who they say they are.”

4) Research them online: “Don’t be afraid to research someone you meet online. Use Google Images to check whether the photos they are using belong to someone else and check social media sites to ensure they really exist. You can also search for sentences and phrases online, in case they are using a known fake profile.

Sentences and phrases online

If something doesn’t feel right, don’t be afraid to just stop talking to someone.” Charly Lester, an online dating expert and founder of The Dating Awards, offers tips on how to take caution when meeting a date in person.

5) Ask a friend for advice and their opinion: “If you even get a gut feeling that something is not quite right, ask a friend for advice and their opinion. Sometimes our mind can trick us into thinking we’ve met the perfect match when in fact we are being conned by a scam-artist.”

6) Always meet in a public place: “Anyone you meet online is a stranger, and you need to remember that, even if you’re on a second or third date.” Tell someone else where you’re going. Don’t agree to be picked up and don’t feel pressure to go anywhere else from that place, or do anything else with that date at that time so you can get a better sense of that person.”

7) Communicate with a friend: “Let someone else know where you are, and check back in with that person at the end of the date.”

8) Avoid drinking too much on dates: “While Dutch courage can be enticing, you don’t want to lower your inhibitions, and end up doing something you regret.”

Conduct a background check: consider hiring a [private investigator] to run a background check and criminal check on the person, as well as a deep dive (OSINT) Open Source Intelligence Search. If this person has been around or successful, there will be a lot of information on them.”

A background check could be a wise move considering the fact that most dating websites do not conduct one. Under Match.com’s “Terms of Use Agreement,” it clearly states that the company is not liable should you have a date with death. Similar warnings exist on popular sites eHarmony, Farmers Only, and OKCupid, among others.

Expect the unexpected: the public shouldn’t be quick to point the finger at online dating. “It’s easy to focus on the online dating aspect here, but really this could have happened to the victim if she had met Charlton at a bar or anywhere else,” Carmichael said. “They had apparently been dating for one or two months, so it’s not as if she broke the obvious safety rules like going somewhere alone with him on a first date. It’s unclear whether she knew about his criminal history of misdemeanor violence, but even if she did, it would not be reasonable to think that would be a tip-off that he’s a depraved killer.” “For example, it’s not uncommon for a man who has a history of violence with other men in bar brawls or other disputes to be completely appalled at the idea of striking a woman,” she added via

Does Deleting the Cache Speed Up Your PC?

Well, we’ve been dealing such questions ourselves for quite some time now. With the latest smartphones lying around and having the option of ‘clear cached data’ people have started to develop this tendency to think the same for their PCs also.
deleting pc cache
Many times when you go to a person with a few tech skills for say, regarding your slow PC, they start jabbering about running some tune up tools to clear the cache and all stuff. The question is, does it matters? Does Deleting the Cache Speed Up Your PC? Or is it just a myth? Well, yes and no! There are scenarios where the answer varies, let us discover more about the issue itself.

People think that the cached files and data are left there for no use and somehow eating a lot on their disks or even some thinks that the cached data just sits there and wait till your PC becomes sluggish. This is completely untrue. The cached data is meant for keeping some files downloaded temporarily so that whenever you try to visit some pages on your browser, it won’t need to re-download all the files again. This all saves you time, internet bandwidth and even spares you from unnecessary frustration from even slower rates of loading pages.

Why caching is preferred for certain applications?

PC caching

The major problem arises when an application or sets of applications wants to generate a set of info that usually takes a while to load every time the application is started again. Instead of performing the initialization at every runtime, it caches some of the data which is going to remain constant at every run. When you are wiping the cache you are deleting those files, and the application has to start over, once you run the application again. And THIS WILL SLOW YOUR PC DOWN!

So, where is it all going?

PC keyboard and RAM

Let’s talk regarding latency. Suppose if a single image file is taking up 2 seconds to load from a web server, which is fine. But modern day web pages doesn’t just contain one such image; it is a collection of tonnes of such small images. And apart from images, there are some more data that is needed to be downloaded, most of which don’t change every day. Now suppose you are clearing your cached data after every session.

Now think of how many such similar websites you visit in a day and don’t forget to count the number of visits and re-visits you pay to the same website. Now, calculate the time which is going to be lost in downloading all the stuff back AGAIN, and yeah! TIME! If it all that matters to you.

So, it is pretty much a bad idea to clean the cache after every interval. Surely, you can delete and module the cached data after a period of days or months to make sure everything is running perfectly. But it is quite sure that clearing the cached data that is cleared too often isn’t going to make your PC fast, at all.

Where all it is okay to clear the cached data?

Well, exceptions to the rules mentioned above are always there. In scenarios like where you are limited with certain resources like less hard disk space available, available RAM memory is too less, or even faulty RAMs, probably cached corruption and even remove the useless autocomplete data.

Limited disk space and slow disk drives

PC disk drives

For all those trying to free some space on their hard drives can go ahead with the deletion of the cache. Just keep in mind that the deleted cached data will be restored back once you open those sets of websites or do the similar tasks that you did before its deletion.

Corruption of cached data

In cases when the cached data becomes out of date or when the cached data become corrupted because of some reason, the application can’t get rid of it automatically. So, in that case, you need to delete it to make the application work smoothly manually.

Final words

Deleting the cache is something you might want to consider if you are worried about your privacy apart from the factors mentioned above. It is still a topic as many of the tech experts consider ‘deleting the cache and gaining speed’ as a myth.

If you have recently installed a program or drivers on your computers then it may be because of them that your system has got freeze. Different programs require different hardware to run and if the software requirements of the new software do not match with Operating system on your computer then it may conflict with OS. Sometimes installing multiple anti-virus results in system freeze or blue screen of death. In this case entering to safe mode and uninstalling such program may help a lot.

7. Cleaning temporary or duplicate files:
When we use our computer for a long time our computer collects a bunch of duplicate or temporary files. Clearing such temp files time to time works as a preventive measure to stop the system from freezing. It is recommended the time to time you should clear browsing history of your web browsers and run disk cleanup which helps a lot in clearing temp files from all the drives. To remove duplicates there are duplicate file finder and duplicate photo finder software in market. You can use these duplicate file finders to find duplicates on your computer and they also provide an efficient method to clean duplicates in bulk. File started getting duplicate when we download the same file as an email attachment multiple times. However, it is not a good practice and if you do it very often then it may result is some hardware damage.

This is how you can make your frozen system run. If your system freezes very often and you do not find anything unusual about software, then you should check hardware components and the first thing you need to check is the CPU fan because if it is not working properly system will be over heated and overheating will result in system freezing.
